While they were going, behold, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place. And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sufficient sum of money to the soldiers and said, "Tell people, 'His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep.' 1. Guards personally encountered heavenly visitation of angelic being.
2. Chief priests heard firsthand experience of the truth. Chose to deceive the people and nation by bribing the guards.
3. Guards collaborated with the evil plan.
4. Results: Whole nation is deceived.
Dear Heavenly Father despite the awesome supernatural, and even "near death" experience by the guards, human greed still prevails and evil rampant. My prayer to you is that i may conscientiously do your work and not let pride, fear, envy, love of money and many more, to become a stumbling block to myself and others especially those who are still groping in the dark. I ask for your strength today as i do the works that you have laid in my heart. In Jesus' name i ask and pray.
